History of ATL, Provider of Customized Label Solutions

ATL, formerly known as Ad Tape & Label Company, was established in 1951 as a small, family owned printer in Menomonee Falls. The company was named after its original product line of advertising tape and manufactured goods from table top presses. In 1963, ATL incorporated and was officially recognized as Ad Tape & Label Company, Inc. focusing on production of labels for the industrial and direct mail markets. The year 1987 brought about a change in ownership when the company was sold to an ATL employee. The company continued to expand its market and product line specializing in customized labels for the industries' largest printers and direct mail companies.

Twenty years ago, ATL formed a second division where the focus shifted to servicing the medical industry by converting foams and tapes into disposable medical devices. The company developed a relationship with 3M and became one of fourteen "3M Medical Preferred Converters" in the United States. Meeting the strict quality standards of the medical industry led to a natural transition into the pharmaceutical industry in 2001, when ATL developed an in-line booklet label from 3 to 19 pages. Since then, more than 120 million pharmaceutical labels in over 80 languages, for over 1700 clinical trials have been manufactured at ATL.

In 2003, ATL earned its cGMP (current good manufacturing practice) certification as a result of strict compliance to 21 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) Part 820 for the manufacture, packaging, storage and installation of disposable medical devices. ATL also follows cGMP 21 CFR Part 210 and 211 for the manufacturing, processing, packaging, and holding of drugs and finished pharmaceuticals for all pharmaceutical label manufacturing.

In 2007, a new division, ATL Security Label SystemsTM, was established. The focus of this division was on a new line of labels offering security and anti-counterfeiting features. ATL signed a ten-year contract with IDGLOBAL Corp, enabling ATL to incorporate IDGLOBAL's Nano-Molecular MarkingTM technologies into any of ATL's pharmaceutical booklets and single ply labels. These new features provide a broad selection of overt and covert technologies to protect our customers' brands from counterfeiting.

Today, ATL operates three divisions: ATL Security Label Systems, ATL Pharmaceutical Labels and Disposable Medical Devices, and ATL Direct Mail and Product Labels, all practicing strict quality standards with a strong commitment to customer service. This passion has been demonstrated through numerous service awards and dozens of successful on-site audits from top pharmaceutical companies giving ATL a well-respected name in the tough pharmaceutical and medical arena.
